Rare William G. Schulze, New York Albert System Clarinet ca. 1890

Rare and very unique Albert System Clarinet in key of E flat, low pitch / A=440 made by William G. Schulze, New York. Clarinet has 11 closed keys, 4 ring keys and 3 open finger tone holes. Instrument measures about 19 inches ( 490 mm) without the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece has a metal sleeve that goes into the barrel which also is adjustable. The Clarinet is made of perfect aged Ebony wood in excellent condition. The silver keywork and silver ferrules/rings around each joint and bell are very decorative. The Clarinet has just been complete overhauled, has a beautiful ripe and charming sound. remarkable and well crafted Clarinet! William G. Schultze was a high quality Instrument Maker at this time, also invented and manufactured the Contrabassophon which can be seen at the National Music Museum of South Dakota.
