And good Intonation. Ferdinand Roth also Inventor of the Rothphone or Saxorusophone was born in Adorf, Germany in 1815 and died in Milan, Italy in 1898. He worked first for Pelitti, and later as a foreman in Prague and Vienna. The establishement of his Premiata Fabbrica in Milan is given variously as 1838, and 1842. Roth instruments were exhibited in Florence (1861), Santiago (1875), Milan (1881, 45 brass instruments, and 1894). An 1878 city directory lists the address at vis S. Giovanni in Conca 9, Milano. In 1892 a one-page catalogue was issued, "Premiata fabbrica d'instrumenti musicali in ottone e legno Ferdinando Roth". In 1894 he advertised as a specialist in saxophones and claimed to be the original supplier of Aida trumpets made according to Verdi's instructions. In 1894, blind and in his eighties, he put his son-in-law, Antonio Bottali, in charge and on his death in 1898 the firm became Roth and Bottali.

There are 2 models of King/SML Bass Clarinets designed, model King/Lemaire was the name used for the intermediate line and the Flagship King/Marigaux was the name used for the professional line higher Level Model. Very well crafted Bass Clarinet with a Excellent reputation of french craftsmanship. SML or Strasser Marigaux & Lemaire was founded in 1934 by three partners: Charles Strasser, a businessman who was born in Switzerland; Marigaux, an instrument maker who trained at Buffet-Crampon, where his father was "premier ouvrier", and Lemaire. After the death of Lemaire many years ago, Strasser and Marigaux bought their partner's shares and the company became known as "Strasser-Marigaux". Marigaux died in the early 1970s, leaving Strasser the sole owner of the company. Strasser then sold SML (it continues to use these initials) to a holding company Strasser-Marigaux S.A.

Conn 12m Baritone sax with original lacquer in excellent playing condition, just has been serviced. Saxophone in original lacquer with the "Naked Lady" engraving on the bell, also has the X-Brace / Crossbar. The 12M made famous by legendary Bari players such as Harry Carney, Gerry Mulligan, Charlie Parker and Gary Smulyan. This Horn has an amazing fat sound and low Bb sounds like a pipe organ. There are some shallow dents, scratches, etc., but nothing what would effect sound or play. This Horn is structurally sound and should remain in great playing condition for years to come. Beautiful aged Tiger Stripe maple wood, the key mechanism is handmade and offers very high playing comfort with high-D key, double C touch piece, whisper key lock for the left hand, high E key, right hand Bb trill key and c# trill key, four rollers, F-Ab, C#-Eb, lined wing joint as well tone hole tubes in wing and boot joint, metal reinforced Tenons. The Silver plated keywork is mounted with rod screws and head pivot screws. Thus it is stabilized and side noises are avoided. This Bassoon has just been serviced, it produces a wonderful warm and vibrant sound. Instrument comes with a new Pro Tech case.

late 19th Century Boehm fingering flute made of beautiful cocus wood, just overhauled in perfect playing shape. condition of this flute is excellent with no cracks or any repair work to wooden body or keywork. There is no makers stamp on any of the pieces. the headjoint is half-lined, flute has open G# key as Theobald Boehm originally used in his new design of 1847. the headjoint which shows no wear at all on the embouchure and the original finish is not scratched or worn. This beautiful instrument is in excellent condition and this is very rare for its age! The maker of the Horn is Carl Wilhelm Moritz of Berlin, Germany who was the son of and successor to J. G. Moritz. The elder Moritz died in 1835. C. W. Mortiz continued the business for the next twenty years. He was every bit as creative as his father, having numerous patents of his own. Upon his death in 1855, the business was taken over by his wife and sons who continued on with the business. There is a silver one inch wide filigree engraving along the outside bell with the words "C.W. Moritz KÖNIGL:HOF Instrumentenmacher in Berlin".

This is a very special and rare horn, both in appearance and playability. For a vintage trumpet is has a remarkably modern feel and it blends very well with either Symphonic or Big Band sections. Horn has just been serviced and is in excellent condition, the action is fast and smooth. The compression is excellent as well. Trumpet has a rich warm sound, and the intonation is excellent through all registers. The original lacquer is excellent and approx. 98% intact. Bell engraving is nice and crisp. Johann Adam Schönfelder Violin

Beautiful 4/4 size german violin with all original Yellow-brown varnish, perfect inlay work on it and ropeing all away around the sides. this violin is in excellent shape with no damage or repairs to it. tag is still intact and reads: Johann Adam Schonfelder - Violin Macher in Neukirchen Ao. 1743. the inlay on back is all there with no missing pieces at all. Violin has a wonderfull tone, excellent acoustical properties, narrow and wide grain tops. Also Violin is set up with new strings. Some about Makers History: Johann (Hans) Adam Schoenfelder (1707 - 1763) born in in Neukirchen, Germany. All the Schoenfelder later on and earlier were family members. Violin building was their family tradition from 1677 on, when "Johann Georg Casper Schönfeld" from "Graslitz" where he learned the violin-building came to Neukirchen. But its not totally clear if the first in the family was him or Johann Georg I (the first) Schoenfeld who was mentioned first time in 1677 also. The instruments that were made by Johann Adam Schoenfelder usualy were painted in a "bright yellow-brown", seldom in a "dark red brown". The slip of paper inside is printed and says: "Johann Adam Schönfelder Violinmacher in Neukirchen Ao 1743" (for example), the letters "Ao" stand for the word "Anno" which means Anno Domini (latin for: "in the year of the lord"). A very good violin made by Johann Adam similar like the one we offer is in the "Gothenburger Museum".
